When the Boise Fire broke the inversion yesterday extreme fire behavior occurred. Expect this type of fire behavior until significant wetting rains occur.

I was at a meeting at Anderson River Park in Anderson, CA August 26, 2024 just south of the Redding Airport when I heard the familiar sound of the C-130H during takeoff. CAL FIRE put the C-130H into service.
It brought back memories of my first fire season on the Dalton Hotshots in 1979 when we were working on the Sage Fire on the Angeles National Forest. A dozer rolled over into the green and and started a small spot fire about 75 yards below the line just before the sun rose. My Captain grabbed me and one other crew member and we literally swam through thick brush to get to the spot. We were successful in knocking it down. Soon after the a C-130H came in and painted the hillside just to make sure!
